The Earth Pressure Balance (EPB) TBMs were required to bore under extremely low overburden, alongside and beneath several culturally sensitive historic structures. The age of these structures and their construction methods\/materials were of great concern when considering the possible consequences of tunneling-induced ground settlement and vibrations.
